For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what ‘clearing of yourselves’ [apologia], what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear [hagnos] in this matter.” (2Cor 7:10-11)
“who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify [katharizo] for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” (Tit 2:14)
“Since you have purified [hagnizo] your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure [katharos] heart” (1Pet 1:22)
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse [katharizo] your hands, you sinners; and purify [hagnizo] your hearts, you double-minded.” (Jm 4:8)
“Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure [katharos] heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere [anupokritos] faith” (1Tim 1:5)
