Jesus became poor to make you rich, so that you can give to the poor and needy.

“therefore I command you, saying, You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.” (Deut 15:11)
“For you know the grace [charis] of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich [plousios], yet for your sakes He became poor [ptocheuo], that you through His poverty might become rich [plouteo].” (2Cor 8:9)
